CEO Carla Graves's Story
Biography of Carla Graves
Carla Graves is a dedicated healthcare professional, certified doula, and passionate community advocate. Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, she continues to reside there with her five children, where she remains committed to uplifting and serving families in her community.
Carla began her journey in healthcare in 2018, earning her certification as a Medical Assistant and receiving recognition for "Most Improved in Medical Office Procedures." Her desire to support others through health education and maternal care led her to pursue further training as a Community Health Worker through Camden County College and Rutgers University. She received her official certification in June 2022.
In 2023, Carla began working with Children’s Futures as a Logistics Assistant, where she contributed to maternal and child health initiatives. During that time, she also trained with Uzazi Village and became a Certified Perinatal Doula, further deepening her commitment to supporting mothers and families.
Her professional credentials include specialized training in birth and postpartum doula care, childbirth education, breastfeeding peer counseling, and sexual and reproductive health counseling. In 2025, she expanded her holistic care services by becoming a Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, offering additional postpartum support to enhance maternal recovery and well-being.
Carla is also certified in HIPAA compliance, ServSafe food safety, and Biohazard Handling, and is trained in active listening and emotional intelligence—essential skills that enhance her ability to provide empathetic, client-centered care.
In June 2024, Carla became the CEO of Bella Baby Doula Services LLC, a venture that reflects her mission to provide compassionate, culturally competent care to mothers, babies, and families throughout their perinatal journey. Her leadership is grounded in service, education, and empowerment.
Carla currently serves as President of the Early Head Start Policy Council at The Children’s Home Society, where she advocates for high-quality early childhood programs and family-centered policies. She is also a valued member of the Perinatal Community Advisory Board (PCAB) at Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell, where she collaborates with other maternal health professionals to improve outcomes and experiences for birthing families in the region.
Carla’s work is driven by heart and purpose. As she beautifully puts it:
"Being a doula is easy. It’s just something I love to do. I am blessed as a doula. I sacrifice my time to serve mothers, babies, and families with good intention."
